4 Reasons Why You Should Attend College Out-Of-State
Being away from your friends and family will make you appreciate them more. As you start making our own mistakes, you’ll see that the “lame” advice your parents gave you can actually be great advice. When you have a rough day, you’ll miss having your best friends nearby to vent to them about it. But when you go home for a school break, you’ll start to miss your new friends. “You will never be completely at home again because part of your heart will always be somewhere else. That’s the price you pay for the richness of loving and knowing people in more than one place.”
Going to a school far away from your best friends forces you to step outside of your comfort zone. Getting a fresh start allows you to meet people from all over the world. The coolest thing is that the world seems to grow smaller as you meet more and more people. When you go away to college, hanging out with your high school friends will become even more exciting because there will be so much to talk about . You will all have entirely different college experiences.
Your hometown is boring if you lived there the entire life, which is why you should experience life in another state! The best part of being in another state is seeing how other people live. For example, New Yorkers live a completely different lifestyle than Texans. Adjusting to life in a new place is a life skill that you’ll be able to carry with you past college.
Being in college means you have the freedom to make your own decisions. Your parents won’t be around to tell you to clean your room or stop you from eating pizza for every meal. But this responsibility means that you need to do things for yourself and you’ll have to step outside of your comfort zone. For instance; If you’re sick, you’ll have to make a doctor’s appointment by yourself and if you live in a house, you’ll be responsible for paying your rent. Independence is a great life skill but you’ll have to earn it.
