Why Having Friends in Other Sororities is the Best
When I went Greek, I expected to become best friends with the girls in my sorority. What I didn’t expect was to become so close with girls in other sororities. Having a best friend in another sorority has taught me the importance of Greek Unity and it has made my college experience that much better. Here’s why having friends in other sororities is great.
1. You can take super cute Greek Unity pictures.
Nothing is cuter than posting a picture with the caption “No matter the letters, we’re all tied together.” When you travel somewhere together you can each ‘throw what you know’ for a perfect Instagram post.
2. You can support each other when you run for an E-board position.
When elections come around, you can avoid the “What are you running for?”, “Oh me too” conversation. Being in differents sororities means you’ll never have to run against each other during elections.
3. You'll never have to compete for the same little.
Once Bid Day begins, the competition to find your future little becomes fierce. Nothing is more awkward than when you and your best friend want to take the same person as a little. Since you’re in different organizations, this will never be a problem!
4. You will meet even more people.
Since you spend so much time together, you’ll meet a lot of her sisters. You might even become roommates with them during your senior year! You probably would have never met these girls if it weren’t for your Greek Unity friendship.
5. You’ll find out about more events on campus.
You’ll not only know about your sorority’s events, but also hers as well. This means that there will never be a dull moment on the weekends.
6. You understand each other’s priorities.
Unlike your non-Greek friends, she understands where your priorities are. She won’t be upset if you can’t hang out because you have chapter. She also knows how important it is to maintain your GPA and she won’t discourage you from studying instead of going out on a Wednesday night.
7. You can go to each other’s formals.
When you have no idea who to ask to your formal, she’s your go-to! Girls always make for better formal dates because there’s no pressure involved. You guys can go to formal, have fun, and go out afterwards together!
8. You can make cute paddles for each other.
What sorority girl doesn’t love paddles? Being in different Greek organizations is just another excuse to make a paddle. Putting two sets of letters on a paddle always looks better than one!
